Two New Composite Stone Benchtop Designs Join the Prime Stone Range
Prime Panels has recently added two designs to its Prime Stone benchtop collection, and we’re pleased to be able to offer both to our clients. This announcement marks the return of one of our favourites, the Statuario Venato, which is joined by the new Ohakune.
With one offering a bolder, more contemporary look and the other drawing on classic European marble, the additions give designers, joiners and homeowners more options when designing stylish, sustainable spaces.
What is Prime Stone?
Prime Stone is a composite stone benchtop range that is produced using recycled glass and glass sand right here in New Zealand. With options including zero- and low-silica formulations, it’s a safer, more eco-friendly option than many traditional surfaces. And, because of the composite stone construction, it’s also durable, moisture-resistant and antibacterial, which makes it ideal in heavily used areas such as kitchen benchtops, bathroom vanities and laundry surfaces.
The full Prime Stone range holds Declare accreditation for use in Living Building Challenge projects and is only supplied to fabricators that can demonstrate compliance with WorkSafe respirable crystalline silica guidelines.

Design Spotlight: Statuario Venato
Classified as ‘low silica’, Statuario Venato has returned to the Prime Stone range after being removed last year. The decision to reintroduce it came after continued demand from designers and specifiers who felt there was nothing else in the market that offered quite the same look.
With a luxurious appearance inspired by Italian marble, Statuario Venato brings a distinctly European feel to New Zealand homes, balancing the traditional stone aesthetic with the practical, durable nature we expect of New Zealand-made products.
Well suited to projects where less is more, such as minimalist and European-inspired homes, the refined veining adds movement and detail without overwhelming the surrounding materials. Our clients tell us they particularly favour Statuario Venato when wanting a natural match against timber cabinetry and brushed metal finishes.
Design Spotlight: Ohakune
Ohakune is a new ‘zero silica’ design which features bold, flowing grey veining across a crisp white base. The contrast gives it a strong presence that lends itself well to being a feature, without limiting where it can be used.
Another colourway that complements a minimalistic interior, its clean monochromatic palette looks striking alongside light cabinetry, with the organic veins providing definition without making the space too busy. It also looks great paired with polished concrete floors, allowing the pop of grey to really come into its own.
